Mental fitness is defined as the ability to respond to challenging and stressful situations with a positive mindset rather than a negative one. Put simply, when you have a positive mindset, every situation no matter how dire can be converted into a gift or opportunity. Mental fitness like physical fitness involves a daily regimen of developing and strengthening your mental muscles, which are neural pathways in certain parts of your brain. Like lifting weights in a gym, in the Positive Intelligence program, participants engage in short sessions where we pay close attention to our physical sensations. These are called PQ reps. Mental fitness is 20% insight, which you get from coaching with me, and 80% mental muscles, which you get from your daily PQ practice. The daily PQ reps will help solidify the effects of working with me and it will minimize the influence that your Saboteurs have on your thoughts and behaviors. Saboteurs are the personification of the neural pathways that are responsible for the majority of our negative thinking and limiting beliefs. There are ten Saboteurs that represent our most common self-sabotaging behaviors. The antithesis to our Saboteurs is the Sage, which has five super powers. These super powers represent our most common loving traits like empathy, curiosity, and gratitude. Coaching without the PQ program may not get you the results you want, and even if you get the outcome you desire, months after coaching, you could revert back to your default mode and continue to be guided by your Saboteurs. This is because your Saboteurs are very strong because they are the result of decades of responding to stress and challenges with fear, so they have become automatic. In stressful situations and times of crisis, your Saboteurs will hijack you if you have not done the daily work required to atrophy the neural pathways that nurture them and strengthen the neural pathways that nurture your Sage, which is a much better alternative to your Saboteurs when dealing with upsets, challenges, and stressful situations. Your Sage will not become strong spontaneously. You must strengthen the mental muscles that foster the Sage and a positive mindset, which will guarantee that you will 10x your performance, your personal and professional relationships, and your sense of well-being. You will not only be more successful, but you will also be happier and more fulfilled. Your Saboteurs can guide you toward success, but they do so at the expense of your happiness and well-being. Therefore, I strongly recommend the Foundation program and later, if you wish, the Self-Actualize program.
